The Rila Ride

High peaks, snow-capped for the greater part of the year, indented ridges, ice-cold lakes, and beautiful valleys covered with ancient forests - such are the Rila Mountains. Over one hundred of their peaks are above 2,000 m in altitude, and its highest, Mount Moussala 2,295 m is the highest in the Balkan Peninsula. There are over 150 lakes at an altitude of 7,000 - 8,000 feet. The Alpine character of the mountains requires fit, confident riding abilities. Accommodation is at mountain hotels, huts or chalets, in double or triple rooms with or without private facilities (WC+shower).  The mountains chalets on day 3 and 7 offer a "high-mountains-back-to-Nature-Himalayan-standards”.

Season:    May - September
