Riding In The Rila Mountains
8 or 10 day holiday in the saddle in Rila.
There are numerous riding paths and you may choose from different itineraries every day. Pace of ride suits riders. Neither cars nor walkers will disturb you while riding and you can admire the beautiful nature - oak, birch and pine forests, huge meadows and ... natural silence.
The Rila Ride
High peaks, snow-capped for the greater part of the year, indented ridges, ice-cold lakes, and beautiful valleys covered with ancient forests - such are the Rila Mountains. Over one hundred of their peaks are above 2,000 m in altitude, and its highest, Mount Moussala 2,295 m is the highest in the Balkan Peninsula. There are over 150 lakes at an altitude of 7,000 - 8,000 feet. The Alpine character of the mountains requires fit, confident riding abilities. Accommodation is at mountain hotels, huts or chalets, in double or triple rooms with or without private facilities (WC+shower). The mountains chalets on day 3 and 7 offer a "high-mountains-back-to-Nature-Himalayan-standards”.
Groups: minimum 6 pax, maximum 12 pax.

Ranch Ride
Iskar Ranch is situated about 80 km away from Sofia, at the foot of Rila mountain, at an altitude of 850-900 m. The Ranch occupies 4000 hectares on the banks of the Iskar Reservoir, the biggest artificial lake in Bulgaria. Accommodation is in two buildings- one is the main house where meals are served, and the second is recently built timbers lodge a couple of hundred metres from the main house. Each lodge offers 3 double rooms with private facilities.
Groups minimum 4 pax, maximum 12 pax.

Pace of ride suits riders. Neither cars nor walkers will disturb you while riding and you can admire the beautiful nature - oak, birch and pine forests, huge meadows and ... natural silence. There are plenty of birds, sparrows and finches, hawks, buzzards, storks and herons. Deers, roes, reds or elks are remarkably unafraid of horses.
You will get a fully equipped horse - well-mannered East Bulgarian purebloods, both European and Western saddle available; Using own helmets is advisable.
